Previous Year Questions (June 2024)

Q.1

a) Discuss about ideal voltage source and ideal current source with neat diagram. How ideal voltage source can be converted into ideal current source. (Unit 1)

b) State and explain the superposition theorem with suitable example. (Unit 1)

Q.2

a) Using the mesh analysis, find the current through 5$\Omega$ resistor in the network as shown in figure below. (Unit 1)

A circuit diagram for mesh analysis. A 100V AC source is connected to a central T-junction. The top part of the T has a 20-ohm resistor, and the bottom has a 5-ohm resistor. A horizontal branch containing a 4A current source and a 3-ohm resistor connects the T-junction to a right-hand branch with a 2-ohm and a 1-ohm resistor in series. The goal is to find the current through the 5-ohm resistor.

b) Define the following: (Unit 2)

i) Average value of AC voltage

ii) RMS value of AC voltage

iii) Power factor

iv) Active power

v) Reactive power

vi) Apparent power

vii) Three phase balanced supply
