Previous Year Questions (June 2025)

Q.1

a) State and explain Kirchhoff's current and voltage law. (Unit 1)

b) For the circuit shown in Fig (i) find the current in 2$\Omega$ resistor. (Unit 1)

A circuit with two loops. The left loop contains a 35V source and a 12-ohm resistor. The right loop contains a 4-ohm resistor and a 40V source. A 2-ohm resistor connects the two loops vertically in the middle. The goal is to find the current through the 2-ohm resistor.

Q.2

a) State and explain Superposition theorem. (Unit 1)

b) Find the current through 5-ohm resistance in Fig (ii) using mesh current analysis. (Unit 1)

A circuit for mesh analysis with three loops. The left loop has a 20V source, a 3-ohm resistor, and a 2-ohm resistor. The middle loop shares the 2-ohm resistor, a 5-ohm resistor, and a 3-ohm resistor. The right loop shares the 3-ohm resistor, a 6-ohm resistor, and a 20V source. The task is to find the current through the 5-ohm resistor.

a) Define the following with respect to alternating quantity. (Unit 2)

i) R.M.S. value

ii) Peak value

iii) Average value

iv) Instantaneous value

b) A 4 ohm resistor is connected to a 10 mH inductor across a 100 V, 50 Hz voltage source. Find the input current, voltage across resistor and inductor, power factor of the circuit and the real power consumed to the circuit. (Unit 2)

Q.4

a) Explain Faraday's laws of electromagnetic induction. (Unit 3)

b) Explain the role of resistance, capacitance and inductance in an electric circuit. (Unit 2)
